The women’s hockey team has made their way into the semi finals at the Tokyo Olympics in Japan. India had an astounding victory against Australia in the India VS Australia hockey quarter finals at the Oi stadium, North Pitch. The score which paved the way for India’s victory was 1-0.
Before facing and defeating Australia, the 2nd ranked team in the world, India had defeated the following teams:

The Indian women’s hockey team had made history after making it through to the semi finals for the first time ever. The team led by Rani Rampal has made this victory an event to remember for a life time. Player Gurjit Kaur made the score from the penalty corner in the second corner. Then Savita Punia and the whole defence team displayed an exceptional performance. This led to India’s great win in the quarter finals against Australia.
Prior to the India VS Australia hockey match of the Indian women’s team, the Indian men’s team had also made their way into the semi finals. The men’s team had defeated Great Britain with a score of 3-1 on Sunday. Both the men and women hockey team’s victories have brought immense joy and pride to the country.
The Indian men’s team had faced Belgium for the semi finals at the Oi stadium. However, India lost against Belgium with a score of 2-5.
Now the Indian women’s team will face Argentina for the semi finals on the 4th of August. The match will commence at 3:30PM IST on Wednesday. The match will also take place at the Oi Hockey Stadium, North Pitch in Tokyo, Japan.
