The IPL 2021 (Indian Premier League) kick started on 9th of April but due to the sudden hit of the second wave of covid-19 the tournament was suspended on 4th of May. During the time of suspension, 31 matches out of the total of 60 matches were yet to be played off. The BCCI on the 29th of May declared that the remaining of the 29 matches of IPL 2021 will played in the months of September and October in the UAE (United Arab Emirates), due to the rapid increase in the number of cases in its bio-bubble.
IPL 2021 is set to be resumed from 19th September 2021 and the final match will be held on 10th October. The rest of the 31 matches have been segregated on the basis of the following factors:
The remaining of the IPL 2021 matches will likely clash with England’s limited-overs tournament of Bangladesh and Pakistan ahead of the T20 World Cup.
Due to the major hit of the second wave of corona virus, many players were forced to take their leave from the game in order to support their families and to take care of their own health.
The tournament was suspended officially for indefinite time on the 4th of May due to the covid-19 outbreak. A group of English countries on 6th May 2021, put forward a suggestion of holding the remaining matches of IPL 2021 in England in the month of September.
However, the president of the BCCI, Saurav Ganguly on 9th May, dismissed the idea of holding the remaining of the IPL 2021 matches in England or India for that matter, keeping in mind the complications regarding quarantine.
