She has two siblings and both of them are doctors. Poonam as well wanted to become a doctor when she growsup.
She completed her graduation even after joining the films. She use to attend Carmel Convent School in Chandigarh.
Her Entry to Bollywood
Gain popularity after being crowned as Miss Young India 1978 and Yash Chopra noticed the same and offered her a role in Trishul.
Her 1st song which went popular from her debut movie was “Gabuchi Gapuchi Gam Gam”.
Then did master roles one after the other like Noorie opporite Farooq Shaikh, Soni Mahiwal , Zamana, Awam, Teri Kasam and many more. Poonam has acted in more then 90 bollywood films.
Political Career of Poonam Dhillon
Dhillon joined the BJP in 2004 and is now the head of the Mumbai Unit since 2019. She has been very active in many political and cultural campaigns like Save Girl Child, AIDS Awareness, drug awareness and many more.
Poonam also has been a prominent speaker at SAARC business summit help at Katmandu and Delhi and was also appointed as a cultural ambassador.
