1)Uddhav Thackeray asked the center not to charge train fare from migrant workers-

Maharashtra chief minister has requested the center not to charge any train fare from the migrant workers who are stuck due to this lockdown. He knows that laborers do not have any money for traveling. Nearly five lakh migrant laborers have been given food and shelter for 40 days in various state facilities, and now they have expressed the desire to go back home in view of the current situation. These people have no source of income from the last few weeks.

 

2)Goa police use drones to monitor lockdown violators-

The drones last week helped the police to aerially monitor the movement of people in South Goa’s Zuarinagar, located near Vasco city. Goa police used drones to keep watch on lockdown violators in some populated and slum areas of the coastal state. This was done after police came to know that people are gathering for playing volleyball in the ground and some open areas in the south Goa district.

5)Market crash as Sensex tumbles over 1500 points, Nifty below 9400-

Domestic equity markets crashed in early morning trade on Monday even as some economic activities restarted across the country, as part of the relaxed lockdown 3.0 guidelines. However, it seems that market investors were expecting the rules to be relaxed further. Apart from the extension of Lockdown, weak company results and global cues led to today’s morning meltdown. Many blue chips stocks including Reliance Industries Limited was down after reporting weak March quarterly results.

 

6)India’s tally of Coronavirus cases surge past 59,662, death toll climbs to 1981-

India registered a jump of 103 deaths and 3390 cases in the last 24 hours and the recovery has increased from 15886 to 17847. One still says keep your immune system powerful and do not go out.

 

7) Kerala gets ready for return of Malayalees from other states-

The Kerala government has completed arrangements to receive those trapped in other states due to lockdown imposed to contain the spread of the Novel Coronavirus. Kerala has opened six entry points for those taking the road. They can through checkposts at Inchivila in Thiruvananthapuram, Arynakavu  in Kollam in Idukki.

 

8)Liquor shops are reopening-

As the third phase of lockdown began on Monday, the sale of liquor is now allowed by the center with “certain conditions” in all zones, barring containment areas, in standalone shops.

 

9)Sunil Gavaskar offers more help to fight COVID-19 pandemic-

Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar on Monday said that his donation of Rs.59 lakh towards the fight against the coronavirus is nothing compared to what a few others are doing while offering more help.

 

10)PE giant Silver Lake to invest 5650 crores in Jio platforms-

Reliance Industries Limited on Monday announced that private equity firm silver lake will invest Rs.5655 crore in the digital arm, valuing Jio platforms of Rs.4.90 crores. The fresh deal comes just days after social media giant Facebook said it would invest Rs43,574 crores to buy almost 10 percent shares.
